You're absolutely correct that all Christians, to some degree, interpret the Bible through their own lens and experiences. This is precisely why we in The Jesus Movement emphasize the importance of understanding the historical and cultural context of Scripture, as well as being transparent about our own biases and perspectives when approaching the text.

Our goal isn't to lean into what we want the Bible to say, but rather to understand what Jesus was actually teaching in his historical context and how that applies to our lives today. We believe that Jesus' core message of radical love, inclusion, and justice for the oppressed should be the lens through which we interpret all of Scripture.
