This common argument misunderstands both Jesus's message and what I'm advocating for. First, Jesus absolutely taught us to transform the world - that's what the Kingdom of God is about. When he taught us to pray "thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven," he wasn't telling us to wait passively for heaven. He was giving us a mission to create God's kingdom here and now.

Jesus focused on the Temple because it was the center of both religious and economic power in his community. He wasn't telling us to ignore systemic injustice - he was showing us how to confront it. The Gospels consistently show Jesus challenging systems that exploit and marginalize people.

The Soviet Union, China, etc. weren't actually communist - they were authoritarian state capitalist systems that concentrated power in the hands of a few, just like corporate capitalism does. I'm not advocating for those systems. I'm calling for an economy based on Jesus's teachings of love, justice, and human dignity.

Your work experience actually demonstrates my point perfectly. You've created enormous value through your labor, but how much of that value went to business owners instead of you? The problem isn't that capitalism is sometimes abused - the problem is that exploitation is built into how it fundamentally works.

We don't have to accept injustice just because Jesus hasn't returned yet. He taught us to create change now: "The Kingdom of God is at hand." Following Jesus means working to build that Kingdom - a world of radical love and justice - in the present moment.
