Thank you Matthew! You make an excellent point about spiritual language. I would caution - and I am no expert in this - that the Jesus passages of the Quran were definitely much later and used Christian and/or gnostic texts as source material. So I'm not sure how helpful scholars think it is in determining authentically Jesus sayings/teachings.
